H. D. (Horace) Black, Jr. has been practicing law in the State of Texas since 1979. He began his legal career practicing general law in Freestone County before serving twenty-four years in the Texas judiciary. Upon his retirement from active judicial service in 2008, he entered the fascinating practice area of oil and gas title examination. He has written numerous title opinions for drillsites in Freestone and surrounding counties, and most of the mineral producing areas in Texas. His practice with Flowers Davis is singularly focused on oil and gas title examination and mediation matters.
H. D. and his wife Lucie, a retired junior high school counselor, are the parents of two adult children and proud grandparents of four grandchildren.
