about

Rob Knight started his legal career in 2007 by opening a law firm in Houston, Texas, where he practiced in the areas of family, criminal, real estate and probate law.  He relocated to Tyler, Texas, to focus his work on Oil and Gas Title Opinions. At Flowers Davis, he practices in the areas of oil and gas title opinions and real estate law. Rob has prepared title opinions in multiple states, from simple title opinions to complex division order, unit-wide opinions and leasehold opinions.  He also renders title opinions and consults on title issues in anticipation of both residential and commercial loans, and for municipal condemnation proceedings.  Additionally, he oversees a team of attorneys who review real property title for over 1,500 real estate properties a month for title companies prior to issuing title insurance policies.  He has worked in several areas of the law that overlap real property law, including probate and family law, and has a thorough understanding of all instruments within a chain of title, and what is required to cure title defects.

Rob typically works for large multi-national oil and gas companies, as well as mid-sized and small local oil and gas companies, as well as individuals who own oil, gas and mineral interests. In addition, Rob assists individuals with estate planning, drafting wills and trusts, POAs, advanced directives and Transfer on Death Deeds. In early 2019, Rob was named Managing Partner over the Oil and Gas Litigation, Appellate and Transactional Sections of the Firm.

Rob enjoys working in real property law and reviewing land title.  Whether he is preparing title opinions or aiding the issuance of loans and title policies, he understands the importance of providing his services in a quick and efficient manner, and in delivering a quality product.

Outside of work Rob enjoys playing guitar, painting, mountain biking, yoga, preparing for and competing in obstacle course races.
